Meet the Team

We believe that every woman deserves the chance to experience the strength, confidence, and joy that comes from lifting weights. Our coaching will help you master the fundamentals, move well, and build strength safely.

About Sophie

Sophie is a ‘40-something’ mum to two teen boys, a little rescue terrier and a slightly bonkers Sprocker spaniel. She used to work as a commercial disputes lawyer, though she has also been swim teacher, dog walker and stylist (yep, not much good at domestics or sitting still)! She trained as a StrongFirst kettlebell instructor and personal trainer in 2017/18. After a turbulent few years juggling kids, the needs of her elderly mother and Covid lockdown, she was finally brave enough to ‘go it alone’! In. November 2023 Sophie offered kettlebell training sessions from a converted lounge space at home, to two groups of four ladies training twice a week. The business skyrocketed and, in March 2025, Sophie relocated the gym to its current, happy home in Wrington, North Somerset.

Sophie is passionate about strength and quality of movement, and is driven to empower women of all ages, regardless of fitness levels or exercise experience, to feel the benefits and joy that lifting weights can bring.

When she is not coaching in the gym, you will find her working on her own strength and fitness, walking the dogs, ferrying teenagers around or hunting for lost keys. Sophie’s big life loves are sunshine (sun-worshipper alert), dogs, beach walks, dancing (always first on and last off the dance floor), ice cream and Aperol Spritz (preferably in said sunshine).

About Lucy

Lucy is in her early 30s, and is a self confessed dog lover, dancing queen, and full blown chocoholic!

From a young age, Lucy has been drawn to movement. In her childhood and early teens, she competed internationally as an aerobic gymnast, then spent the majority of her 20s with a commercial dance group, working closely with the choreographer as her assistant.

In 2023, when a local community gym opened, she discovered weights and strength training - something that’s now become a real passion. Fast forward to January 2025: she started her first class (as a client!) at Sophie Bryant Strength and Movement, which lit a fire under her and encouraged Lucy to transform her passion into her career.

Lucy loves to learn and develop her knowledge, having now achieved her Level 3 Personal Training diploma, alongside Level 3 Ante and Postnatal Exercise and Level 3 Kettlebell Training. With more upcoming study planned, Lucy is intending to specialise in mobility and flexibility, which goes hand in hand with any good strength training programme!

Lucy also runs a local DanceFit class; apt because she cannot stand still! Lucy always loves to bring fun and energy to all of her sessions.

Outside of fitness, Lucy has worked as a photographer, bartender, optical consultant, and payroll administrator, and has even studied prosthetics and special makeup effects. A fun fact about Lucy: she is fluent in British Sign Language 🙌🏻 If you're ever wondering where she is, she's likely to be watching Disney+, drinking mocktails (no alcohol here!), or if it's past 9pm: asleep!

About cathlyn

Cathlyn is in her early 40s and a proud mum to two teenagers and a sausage dog named Frankie.

As well as coaching in the gym, Cathlyn works as a skin and holistic therapist, with a career spanning over two decades. She spent many years as Head Therapist in an award-winning salon before running her own successful business, which she chose to close in 2020. Her passion for skin health and wellbeing has never faded. A self-confessed skin nerd, she loves sharing her knowledge and helping others — so ask away!

Cathlyn’s strength training journey began in 2018 when she joined her local gym, where she continues to train three times a week. Having never lifted a weight before (or even exercised much at all), she was instantly hooked. It was there that she met Sophie — her training partner, coach, client (Sophie loves to chat skin as much as she does), dear friend, and now mentor.

Since then, Cathlyn has earned her Level 2 fitness instructor qualification and her StrongFirst SFG1 kettlebell certification, continuing her commitment to training, learning, and holistic health.

A few extra facts about Cathlyn: she’s a talented cook and gluten-free baker, a former British Beauty Therapist of the Year, and even once worked as a school attendance officer — a bit of a twist in her career!

Outside of the gym and treatment room, you’ll find her shopping in Bath with her daughter, watching shows at the Hippodrome with her son, surfing on the North Devon coast, or listening to Audible.
